One of the Auxiliary’s proudest achievements has been to sponsor annual Community Education Events. Each year the Auxiliary brings together a panel of experts to present programs of interest to people diagnosed with mental illness and those who care for them. The events offer valuable information and are free and open to the public. Past topics have included:

  • “Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Conservatorship”
  • “The Criminal Justice System and People with Mental Illness”
  • “Living Together with Mental Illness by Practicing Feng Shui”
  • “Club Houses: Client Activity Centers to Enrich Your Life”
spHospital Staff Holiday Party
The Auxiliary Provides festive cupcakes for the staff one day during the Holiday Season to acknowledge their dedication to the Hospital patients.
spPatient's Holiday Party & Holiday Gifts on December 25th

The Auxiliary and hospital staff co-host an annual Holiday party for the patients. The Auxiliary provides refreshments of cookies (both regular and sugar-free) and sugar-free lemonade and table decorations, as well as hostesses for the event.

With membership dues and other donations, the Auxiliary purchases and stuffs gift bags with socks, hospital approved snacks and other small gifts which are given to Hospital patients on December 25th.

Each Spring, the Auxiliary gathers to honor a mental health Angel, Star and Hero. Our Angel is an Auxiliary member who has made an exceptional contribution to our mission. The Star is a mental health client who has taken great steps in his/her personal recovery. Our Hero is a member of the greater San Diego mental health community the Auxiliary wishes to recognize for outstanding work in the field.
