San Diego County Psychiatric Hospital
Each year, more than 11,000 people in acute psychiatric crisis seek help at San Diego County Psychiatric Hospital. Located at 3853 Rosecrans Street, near Old Town, in San Diego, the Hospital provides skilled treatment to men and women over age 18. Many patients are homeless and without family or other support. Others are from families who have exhausted all insurance and third-part benefits and must rely on public services.

Walk-in emergency services are available through the Emergency Psychiatric Unit. All patients are given psychiatric evaluations. Most are released after their crisis has been managed and a plan developed to refer them to appropriate ongoing services. Some patients are treated on a long-term basis due to the lack of alternative care for people with severe and chronic mental illness.

The Hospital is administered by the Behavioral Health Services - Adult and Older Adult Mental Health Division of the San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency. The Agency provides a broad range of health and social services, promoting wellness, self-sufficiency, and an enhanced quality of life for all individuals and families in San Diego County.

The Agency integrates health and social services through a unified service-delivery system. This system is family focused and community-based, reflective of business principles in which services are delivered in a cost-effective and outcome-driven fashion.

The members of San Diego Country Psychiatric Hospital Auxiliary are proud to support the  Hospital administration and staff in their care for the people of San Diego County.
