Who We Are
Established in 1988 as a non-profit organization, the San Diego County Psychiatric Hospital Auxiliary is the only support group for the publicly-funded San Diego County Psychiatric Hospital. The Auxiliary’s primary objective is to serve the patients of the Hospital, while working to educate the greater San Diego community about mental illness. The Auxiliary is an all-volunteer group from the many communities served by the Hospital. Members are dedicated to and passionate about seeing their efforts to improve the lives of patients come to fruition.
All funds raised benefit the Hospital and its patients directly. The goal is to help people with mental illness lead dignified and satisfying lives for many years to come. Since its inception, the Auxiliary has worked closely with Hospital administration and staff to identify and help fulfill the special needs of patients not being met through other resources.
