Lisa Pham graduated from the University of California, San Diego for her undergraduate education, and Western University of Health Sciences College of Pharmacy for her PharmD. She is currently a pharmacist at Rite Aid Pharmacy. She enjoys volunteering at health fairs or other community events as time permits. Outside of pharmacy, she also regularly spends her free time at Disneyland with friends and family.


Dr. Edwards attended WesternU College of Pharmacy and completed a PGY-1 Residency in Community Practice there. He went on to a PGY-2 in Pharmacy Informatics at the VA San Diego Healthcare System.   He is currently a Clinical Analytics Manager at MedImpact PBM.  His work interests include community practice, ambulatory care, technology, and healthcare analytics. He looks forward to working with the SDCPhA board in his new position.


David graduated from the University of the Pacific in 2001 and has been practicing in San Diego county for 15 years, currently working as a staff pharmacist for BriovaRx pharmacy. He enjoys working with and precepting student local pharmacists. In his free time, David enjoys playing with his kids and running.


Hugh graduated from the University of California San Diego and University of Michigan College of Pharmacy. He completed his PGY1 pharmacy residency at the VA Sierra Nevada and is currently a PGY2 Pharmacy Informatics Resident at the VA San Diego. He is interested in population health, data analytics and applying informatics principles towards solving real world pharmacy issues. In his free time, Hugh enjoys running, surfing, and serving those in his community.


Yousif Allahwerdy graduated from Baghdad College of Pharmacy in 2007.  He is a clinical pharmacist and currently works at Medical Center Pharmacy in San Diego and runs the specialty pharmacy department for transplant patients. He is actively involved in volunteering at University of California San Diego Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, students’ activity and health conferences to improve students’ skills in patient counseling. He also enjoys spending free time with family and local community activities.


Dr. Janine Galasso is a clinical Oncology/Hematology Pharmacist at UC San Diego. She graduated from The University of Sciences in Philadelphia in 2009 and went on to complete a Post-Doctoral acute care residency at the Philadelphia VA Medical Center in 2011. Dr. Galasso worked as an Oncology Pharmacist in both medical and gynecologic oncology at Pinnacle Health System before going on to complete a second Post-Doctoral residency in Hematology/Oncology
at UC San Diego in 2013. She serves as the primary preceptor for the inpatient Heme/Onc rotation at UCSD and the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.


Dr. Binh Tran graduated from the Saigon School of Pharmacy in Viet Nam. While working at Miles Laboratories, Elkhart, IN in 1975, she obtained a MS in Microbiology from the University of Notre Dame.  In San Diego, she worked in clinical diagnostics, then completed a PharmD from Saint-Louis College of Pharmacy, MO in 1997, and later, a MBA from Webster University. Binh is co-founder and program director of Asian Pacific Health Foundation in San Diego. A clinical professor of pharmacy (Vol.) at the UCSD Skaggs School of Pharmacy, she has been appointed to the Dean’s Advisory Board for Community Pharmacy Practice, and has directed many Pharmacy programs at National and International Conventions of the Vietnamese American Medical Association and VPhA-USA. 

Binh’s work on Hepatitis B began in 2003 when the former APHCenter collaborated with Community Health Group in the Hepatitis B Prevention Project for Asians and Pacific Islanders. APHF was recognized for outstanding Viral Hepatitis screening work by the Department of Human Health Services on National Hepatitis Day on May 19, 2016.  Binh’s focus now is to screen all at-risk populations in San Diego for Hepatitis B and C, and link the affected people for follow-up care.


Nancy Kong is a second year student pharmacist at UC San Diego Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. She is currently working as an intern pharmacist at Kaiser Permanente Outpatient Pharmacy. When she is not working or studying, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, catching up on TV, and playing with dogs.


Dr. Sally Rafie, PharmD is a Board-Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist, Advanced Practice Pharmacist, and NAMS Certified Menopause Practitioner. She graduated from the University of California San Francisco School of Pharmacy and completed residency training at University of California San Diego Medical Center. Dr. Rafie is a Pharmacist Specialist at UC San Diego Health and Assistant Clinical Professor of Health Sciences at the University of California San Diego Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences where she teaches and trains pharmacy students. In addition, she provides clinical services at The Pharmacists Clinic inside Point Loma Shelter Island Drug. Dr. Rafie is nationally known for her expertise in birth control and trains other pharmacists to provide this service. She has a long record of research and advocacy and has published in peer-reviewed medical journals.
